Argon Peduli Supports Stunting Intervention and Midwife Education in South Sumatera

Midwives, as the frontline in tackling stunting rates in Indonesia, need to be appreciated through the provision of education related to stunting intervention. Medela Potentia, through Argon Peduli, participated in the Stunting Education and Intervention Program on Tuesday, June 27, 2023, in Palembang, South Sumatera.

Approximately 1,000 midwives from various cities and regencies in South Sumatera enthusiastically attended the event organized by the collaboration between Dexa Medica, the National Population and Family Planning Agency (BKKBN), the South Sumatera Provincial Government, and the Indonesian Midwives Association. Argon Cares participated by donating 1,000 Stardec Wash Gloves to maintain the health of the midwives.

The donation was handed over by Mr. Yulius Yudianto, the Palembang Branch Manager of AAM, along with the Argon Cares team, to the representative midwives attending this event. Mr. Yudianto stated that the donation of 1,000 Stardec Wash Gloves aims to promote healthy living habits by maintaining personal hygiene and cleanliness in the environment.

"With this donation, our hope is that midwives, as the frontline in reducing stunting rates, can provide education on healthy living habits to every family in the South Sumatera region," said Mr. Yudianto.

The 2022 Indonesian Nutrition Status Survey (SSGI) shows that the national prevalence of stunting has decreased to 21.6 percent, a decline of 2.8 percent compared to the previous year. However, further efforts are still needed to achieve the target of 14 percent by 2024.

South Sumatera is the province with the highest decline in stunting rates in Indonesia, from 24.8 percent to 18.6 percent. "Although the prevalence of stunting in South Sumatera is among the best, we are still striving to further reduce the stunting prevalence to 14 percent by 2024, as directed by President Joko Widodo," said Governor Herman Deru during his speech.

Mr. Krestijanto Pandji, President Director of Medela Potentia, appreciates the important role of all parties in achieving the target reduction in stunting by 2024. Aligned with the core value of "Deal With Care," Medela Potentia remains committed to assisting the government in reducing stunting rates.

"Stunting intervention is not solely the responsibility of the government, but it requires collaboration between the government, healthcare professionals, the private sector, and the community. Medela Potentia is committed to promoting national health resilience for a better future for Indonesia," expressed Mr. Krestijanto.
